Isn't Myspace a safety risk to people?

On Myspace, users list their photographs, location, name, and many personal details. Doesn't this poss a BIG threat to safety? Consider this: there are over 120 million computers worldwide connected to the internet, over 6 billion people in the world, and Myspace is ranked 5th overall in the WORLD WIDE WEB in most popular websites (with over 80 million profiles). Just looking at these statistics, isn't it possible that out there somewhere will be one, if not many, psychopath(s) plotting serial murders by using the personal information listed on a person's Myspace profile? Supposidly, Myspace has already been responsible for the kidding of 2 girls in the US.

Yes, this topic has been discussed many a time here. These are unnecessary posts, because everyone KNOWS that MySpace is a safety risk. Geez, people, what do you need, reassurance?

Isn't Myspace a safety risk to people?

Well, the thing i do on myspace is i dont give out all my personal info. Like, i have a diff. last name on myspace and i don't tell everybody where i live or what skool i go to, so hun, you're doin the right thing! it scared me too, i didnt want to but now i dont wanna get off, i just dont talk to ppl i dont know and dont let ppl know all my info

of course it can be a safty risk, just like yahoo, hotmail, aol, etc. i think that if you are stupid enough to put enough detail on any profile or blog space that would reveal where you are then that is a problem. i my self have a myspace account as well, and yes it is more revealing than my yahoo profiles, but i chose for it to be that way and i chose to blog on myspace. if for some reason someone has decided to hunt me down i guess i'm the one who messed up and gave them too much knowledge of myself. i think that everyone should be accountable for thier actions and blaming thier actions on a website is a cop out and i think that as a society we should not take the excuse of this song, movie, tv show, video game or website and take that is the complete bs it is. we are smarter than that as a society and people have used this various outlets as excuses for way to long. when are people going to wake up and say you did it because you wanted to, not because this movie depicted it or encouraged you to.

and moreover, if you don't feel safe do just as you did...privatize your info or just flat out don't have an account there.
